Leelanau, Land of Delight

Leelanau County is located in Northwest, Lower Michigan. There are many reasons that make Leelanau County such a desirable place to live, work and play. Most areas in Leelanau County have a convenient, 30-minute commute to Traverse City and Munson Medical Center. The landscape is complimented by many inland lakes (some of which include: Lake Leelanau, Glen Lake, Little Traverse Lake and Lime Lake) and Lake Michigan surrounds the perimeter of the County.

There is a large agricultural influence which includes vineyards, cherry orchards and apple orchards. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is located in southwest Leelanau County along the Lake Michigan shoreline. Some favorite attractions in Leelanau County include: The Homestead Resort in Glen Arbor, Historic Fishtown in Leland, the shopping district in Suttons Bay and The Manitou Islands. Leelanau County also offers some of the best public and private schools in the State of Michigan.

Climate: Leelanau County’s four seasons are enjoyable for everyone. Spring is typically between 40-60 degrees as the snow melts, the flowers bloom and the birds sing. Summers have moderately warm temperatures between 75-90 degrees, fun in the sun. Fall is beautiful and the trees are full of color, temperatures between 50-60 degrees. Winters usually have lots of snow for outdoor activities and temperatures range from 0-30 degrees.  Annual rainfall 33", annual snowfall 96".
